Return to: Residence Life Information
Academic Requirements
The Office of Residence Life requires undergraduate students who plan to live on campus to maintain a certain level of credit hours and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). Any student who fails to meet either of these requirements will be required to meet with the Director of Residence and Student Life and the Advisor prior to the start of the upcoming semester. A student who is on academic probation or academic special status will not be granted on-campus housing unless the student is registered for and maintaining twelve (12) credit hours per semester. Requests for exceptions to these policies must be made in writing to the Director of Residence and Student Life.
- Incoming Students to the College:
Any incoming student, who wishes to live on campus, must have earned a minimum High School/transfer CPGA of 2.0 to be eligible for on-campus housing.
- Returning undergraduate students to the College and or Residence Halls:
The following is a breakdown of the minimum credit and CGPA required for an undergraduate student to live on campus:
- Fall/Spring Semester= 2.25 CGPA and enrollment in 12 credit hours per semester
- Winter Session=2.25 CGPA and enrollment in 3 credit hours
- Summer Session=2.25 CGPA and enrollment in 6 credit hours
Students who live on campus during the winter and summer sessions are required to be enrolled in class. However, exceptions may be granted by the Director of Residence and Student Life for the following reasons:
- Working Off Campus
- Working On Campus
- Internship
- Student Athlete
Health Insurance Requirements
All resident students must either possess health insurance and waive the College’s health insurance upon submission of any contract or be placed on the College health insurance plan. Any subsequent fees associated with maintaining the insurance plan while in the residence halls at the College must be paid by the student.
Immunization Requirement
Students residing on campus will not be permitted to move-in prior to completing the immunization requirements. Students and parents who have questions regarding the College’s Immunization Policy may contact the Student Affairs Office at 302-225-6332. The full immunization policy can be found in the General Policies section of this handbook or by clicking here.
Securing Course Schedule
Residential students must have secured their course schedules prior to moving onto campus every semester. Those students who have not secured their schedules by making financial arrangements in the Business Office will not be permitted to move into the residence halls under any circumstances.
“Securing Course Schedules” is the process of officially confirming enrollment. This confirmation is completed when the student finalizes payment arrangements with the Business Office. By securing the schedule, the student has acknowledged receipt of the course schedule and is responsible for all tuition charges for the semester/session. The student must complete this process no later than the payment due date for each semester/session. The Late Payment Fee is assessed to the student accounts of returning students who do not complete this process within the prescribed timeframe.
Failure to make any payment to the College for classes or housing will result in the student being placed on hold. Students on hold may not move into the residence halls, or, if already in residence, may be asked to vacate the residence halls until the obligation is met. Such a consequence does not release the student from any financial obligation to the College.
