HRM 496 - Human Resource Capstone Internship II

(3 Credits)

This course provides an opportunity for students to gain valuable industry experience and apply their knowledge of business practices. The course consists of an academic component, which includes a series of progress reports designed to state their professional human resource experience and how that experience relates to their current GBC Human Resource Management (HRM) curriculum. Students complete a final report at the end of the semester. Instruction will be given to creating this report, which will be used to guide and evaluate success. In addition to the academic component, an experiential component includes professional human resource experience and self-reflection on this work experience. Students will be representing GBC in the community. Therefore, while in the field, all GBC rules and policies will apply in addition to the specific intern policy guidelines.

The Capstone Internship can be arranged through the participating faculty, career services department, or can also be arranged independently by the student (with approval by faculty and co-monitoring of the project by GBC faculty).

Prerequisite(s): C- Grade or higher in HRM 495
