Accounting, B.S. (120 Credits)

The field of accounting is dynamic and challenging. Accountants today are expected to participate extensively in the general area of business management. The B.S. Accounting degree is designed to prepare students for positions of leadership and responsibility in industry, government, and public accounting. The Accounting program emphasizes computer skills, written and verbal communications, as well as accounting theory and the most recent Financial Accounting Standards Board pronouncements.

At the present time, this degree program meets and maintains compliance with the CPA requirements for the tri-state area (Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania).  State requirements beyond the three aforementioned would be subject to review. Students interested in becoming a CPA will need 150 hours of college-level credits, 30 hours beyond what the Bachelor degree requires.  The College offers a Master of Science in Taxation that many Accounting graduates choose to complete their required 150 credits.

Program Goals:

Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree, students will:

  • demonstrate an ability to conduct relevant research in the field of accounting.
  • exhibit an understanding of the concepts, processes and regulations of the major areas of accounting and related technologies.
  • demonstrate mastery of a broad range of business knowledge.
  • possess the knowledge to successfully obtain employment or enter advanced programs of study.
  • demonstrate the skills necessary to continued success in their fields including leadership abilities and a heightened sense of social responsibility and ethics. 

Humanities Electives (6 Credits)


Select two 100-level courses from the Humanities Discipline (HUM): 

General Elective Requirements (6 Credits)


Select any 100-200 level course, from any discipline. 

Business Elective Requirement (3 Credits)


Select any 300-400 level Business course. It is highly recommended that students take BA 328 - Business Analytics  to satisfy this requirement.
