Criminal Justice, B.A.

The Criminal Justice degree program prepares students for professional careers in the criminal justice system. The career choices for criminal justice majors are diverse and may include jobs in local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, the court system, and in private and corporate businesses. This program also can be considered by students who are interested in graduate studies in the fields of law, criminal justice administration, political science and social work. The program focuses on two areas of criminal justice which relate directly to the current curricula at Goldey-Beacom College: business crime or white collar crime and computer crime as well as cyber-terrorism.

Program Goals:

Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice degree, students will:

  • demonstrate a broad knowledge of the study and practice of criminal justice in the United States, including major concepts, terminology, and history.
  • demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of forensic science, and the legal framework in which forensic science in the United States is conducted.
  • demonstrate different approaches to using technology to investigate digital crime and terrorism.
  • possess and adhere to high standards of professional, academic, and scientific integrity.
  • demonstrate research ability applicable to the field of criminal justice.
  • obtain employment in a field directly related to criminal justice or enter a graduate program of study.

GE Electives include Business Courses; student can take 15 credits in business; 6 toward BA and 9 additional to earn a minor in Business (129 total credits).
