Program Description:
The purpose of human resources management is to ensure that organizations achieve success through their people, and this program will prepare you to do exactly that. Courses focus on managing the human capital of organizations and implementing policies and procedures. Areas of study include leadership, law and ethics, staffing, compensation, labor relations, and training and development. Curriculum is this program is strategically aligned with the guidelines and competencies of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The program includes required HR internships that provide students with practical work experience in the field of HR, completing the knowledge gained throughout the required curriculum.
Program Goals:
Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management degree, students will:
- demonstrate practical skills in the areas of recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, compensation and benefits, and employee relations.
- be able to apply knowledge of legal and ethical issues-including employment laws, workplace diversity, labor relations-to inform ethical decision-making the field of Human Resource Management.
- demonstrate critical and analytical thinking skills to analyze issues common to Human Resource Management in order to make decisions and propose solutions.
- demonstrate the written and oral communication skills necessary for effective Human Resource Management practices, including negotiation, conflict resolution, and employee engagement.
- demonstrate professionalism and networking skills acquired through internships and practical projects.
